Purpose and Goals

I.     Type/Make Simplified Grammar Diagrams

Diagram English sentences so that you can see
  • all the grammatical structures and
  • their relationships to each other

Use the keypad on your mobile device.

    GO >> here.
A set of rules is summarized on this pdf.

Benefits of a Simplified Grammar Diagram
  • it is compact
  • it retains the original word order in a linear fashion
  • S-V-OBJ of main clauses are close in proximity and are left justified
  • markers identify the prepositional phrases (\) and verbals ( -ed, -ing, to)
  • subordinate clauses are color coded and are indented

Focus on Simple Structures

In a linear diagram the text is displayed in short and simple units.
Examine and study very complicated sentences piece by piece.

II.  Use Bible Interlinear Data

Use an interlinear to match corresponding English and Greek words.

III.  Ask Questions Based on Word Meanings

        4 Basic Questions are:
  •    What Happened?
  •    How did it Happen?
  •    Why did it Happen?
  •    Why is it Significant to me?  So what?

Verbs give the sequence of actions and tell what happened.

Prepositions and conjunctions explain how and why actions are done.
        Focus on 3 OT Prepositions b e (H9996) and l e (H9997); Conjunction (H3588).

Concepts underlying verbs, prepositions and conjunctions are described in the HELPS Lexicon of TDB.

        A sample study is here.

You can edit the simplified linear diagram to form the traditional diagram.

A demonstration of how to convert a linear diagram to a traditional diagram is here.

Example Text - Psalm 119:116.

Below is a comparison of a linear and traditional diagram.
